Local Fundraising

When looking for a dependable source of funding, local is usually best. People love supporting their own community, so consider using a combination of the options below to begin raising the adequate funds for your district.

Crowd Funding

  • Crowd funding is a great way to raise money for community goals, especially with the help of social media. Rely on your social networks to spread the message. Consider using sites like Kickstarter and GoFundMe to streamline donations.

Local Business Sponsorships

  • Utilize local businesses that want to get involved with schools in their community. Whether it’s a local movie theater, hardware store, or gas station, businesses are always looking for new ways to step in and lend their name and support for a very positive cause.

School-Based Competitions / Events

  • There are a lot of fun and innovative ways students and parents can help raise money for their school. Host a silent auction, school-wide raffle, principal and teacher challenges, or even a fun movie night.

Grant Funding

If you’re looking for a block of long term funding, consider applying for a private or public grant. While the process is a little longer than local fundraising and will sometimes require enlisting a professional grant writer and researcher, it’s a reliable way to secure funds for school security equipment.

 Department of Education

  • You have free access to resources on your state and federal level Department of Education websites to help you search for the grant that’s perfect for you.

Grants.gov

  • For a more general but inclusive search, use Grants.gov to search through every publically available grant currently being issued by the federal government in your state.
